Myopia (short or nearsightedness)

The myopic eye is longer than a normal eye. Light rays converge in front of the retina.

Distant objects will appear blurred whereas near objects can be seen perfectly.

In general, myopia can be treated through the use of corrective lenses such as eyeglasses or contact lenses. The corrective lenses have a negative optical power for e.g.: -3 dioptres
